What is a Guest User?

A guest user is an occasional user who is granted access to a specific report by a licensed Whispli user or an automation.

Guest users are individuals who can be granted read only access to a specific report to provide their insights or be informed about a report.

A guest user doesn't have a Whispli account with a login/password. they are granted access to Whispli by email through a secure link. They don't require a license to be invited.

Typically, the guest user is usually external Counsel, a lawyer or consultant who is in charge of providing feedback on how to handle a specific report. It can also be used to inform an Ethics Committee of new reports when the Ethics Committee members do not have to actually manage the reports themselves but still need to get the information.

How is the guest user link secure?

The guest user is the only user who gets links in their emails. This link is secured as it will only works on one device: the first device where the link is activated. If the user forwards the email to someone else, or if their inbox is hacked by someone else, the link will not work for those people. If the guest user tries to open the report on a different device, it will not work either.

When the guest user clicks on the link the first time, it adds a token (aka a cookie) in their browser that is then required to open the report. If the guest user clears their browser cache, the link will no longer work.

This is a necessary security to prevent unlawful access to sensitive information.
