What is possible with the Advanced Roles & Permissions Feature? 

For complex organizations, custom roles offer the flexibility needed to align platform access with complex governance requirements.

Whispli provides by default the most common roles used in the system: configurator, admin, analytics manager, member... Those roles are based on the most common use cases. Check here what each role provides in terms of feature access and permissions (more information on those roles here). Should you wish to have different roles, you can define your own roles and include specific permissions. 

This functionality enables organizations to:

  • Control Feature Access: Granularly manage permissions by granting or denying access to specific features. Data visibility can be set to hidden, view-only, or full editing mode. This allows for specific roles to be assigned to a specific audience. For example:
    • A user can message an informant via chat but is prevented from exporting data or modifying the case status.
    • An investigator can document the investigation but is not allowed to communicate with the informant.
    • A user group can export the case data in pdf for litigation purposes while other user groups don’t see the option.
    • A configurator can access the user management and audit trail but cannot modify automations.
  • Establish Specialized Viewers: Configurators can set up roles tailored for external auditors or legal counsel. These users can review comprehensive report details without the ability to send messages or alter any information.
  • Facilitate Reporting: Designate specific roles who can access limited consolidated data, useful for reporting, without the ability to drill down to specific cases.

How to set up Custom Roles

To set up custom roles, admins, restricted admins or configurators can create a new role and go through the list of permissions to decide what permissions to grant for each feature. They can also start from an existing role to have a default set of permissions and just edit the few permissions they wish to upgrade or downgrade. There is no limit in the number of custom roles that can be set up, however, a user can only have one custom role. It is not possible to combine several custom roles in the system.
