For Configurator and Admin: Learn about what question types are available in Whispli and how you can use them to build your informant questionnaire.
Question types:
Short Answer
The Short Answer question type allows an informant to free write their answer, but they are limited to one line of text. This question type is useful when you want the informant to provide a brief reply.
Long Answer
Long Answers allow an informant to write at length and provide you with as much information as possible. There is no cap to the number of characters they can include here and it allows them to elaborate and provide you with any and every detail they want to communicate.
Multiple Choice
The multiple-choice question type is probably the most utilized question type. You can create questions and provide any number of choices for an informant to choose. This can be used for True/False questions as well as more extensive multiple-choice options. There are also options to display multiple-choice options as a drop-down menu, radio buttons (the default), as well as an option to choose multiple answers.
Statement
The statement is not a question but allows you to communicate information to an informant. The most common use of a Statement is providing information at the beginning and/or end of the questionnaire. This could be reinforcing their identity is protected, the purpose of the questionnaire, as well as next steps after the questionnaire, is submitted. Other organizations have used it to outline why specific questions are asked and to help provide instructions for different sections.
Media
The Media question allows you to ask an informant to provide evidence or information through Whispli. This question type lets them upload a file that will be sent along with their Report. Whispli current accepts files in the following formats:
-
Images:.jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp
-
Archives:.zip, .rar, .tar, .gz
-
Media:.mp3, .mpeg, .wav, .ogg, .webm, .m2p, .mp4, .3gpp, .mov, .avi, .ps, .wmv, .flv, .mpg
-
Documents:.doc, .xls, .ppt, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .docx, .pdf, .txt, .xps, .msg
Note: the maximum size per file is 1GB.
Number
When you select the Number option for a question, the informant will only be able to input a number. This can be used for providing financial figures, a scale of 1-10, or any other data where you only want a numeric answer.
Date
Choosing the Date option will provide an informant with a calendar where they can choose which date an incident or some activity took place.
User List
The User List provides a list of users in Whispli that can be a dropdown in a question. We don't recommend you use this option for informant questionnaires as it is typically used in Workflows to help reassign cases or add a colleague to a Report.
